This site has been in operation since October 2000. Our team bring you up to date industry news, useful reviews and great tips on the cafe and restaurant industry. We have since started Menu Magazine in 2005, and published two recipe books. The first to celebrate the tenth birthday of www.westcoastcafes.com.au the second to celebrate ten years of the magazine. We rest comfortably under the umbrella of Eyers RockET.
Who makes it happen?
A list of the people involved with short bio. Read on to find out more about where we come from and what we do:
Originally from Adelaide, Scott has now resided in Perth since 1991. He has worked in the media since 1985 for various health entertainment and local publications. He is currently a host on channel 7’s Home In WA, has been involved with radio, has considerable internet experience and published 3 books. You can see him also at various events as an MC for various food, tourism and music events. Scott also has a successful music career with over 10 CDs under his belt and several national tours. Scott has a degree equivalent in Advertising and Marketing from his studies at Adelaide University and The Institute of Advertising.
Born and bred in Perth and with a passion for food, travel and words, Carmen struck the trifecta as a widely-published lifestyle journalist and multi-award-winning author. In May 2019 she received a Gold IPPY at the Independent Publishers Book Awards in New York City (her favourite city) for coffee-table book Australia’s Extra.Ordinary. West, which she co-wrote and co-produced. When she’s not gallivanting around and writing her Fluffy Towel blog (for travellers who love their indulgences as much as their discoveries), Carmen holds a Marketing & Communications role at a not-for-profit aged care provider and edits and writes for Menu Magazine.
Liz has a love of cuisine inherited from a Jewish mother who loved to cook and was always trying new recipes and ingredients. She has a deep appreciation of food from other cultures which has only been enhanced by travelling the world extensively. As a visual artist she sees food as an art form with endless combinations of colour, form and flavour. Liz has always written stories, ideas and poems and now enjoys writing about people and food. She loves to showcase the passion of those who have made food their livelihood and the regional produce of Western Australia.
Jeremy Sambrooks (Beer Writer)
A man of many hats, Jeremy is a Physical Education teacher, an award-winning home brewer and an internationally certified beer judge. In 2014, after his beer placed first in a competition, Jeremy collaborated with Gage Roads to brew his recipe for Rapid Fire IPA. He has written about beer for several publications, including Menu Magazine for the past nine years. When he’s not busy teaching, brewing, writing, or looking after his two young daughters, Jeremy likes to have a beer.
Music, Art and Literature were always Georgina’s favourite subjects. She has been a musician all her life and now runs an entertainment booking agency. A keen foodie, She has written restaurant reviews for Menu Magazine since the first issue, and for several years was also sub-editor and office manager. Stepping back to concentrate on her own business, she still does one or two reviews for each issue of the magazine and also posts on this website.
