Lulu La Delizia

How long does it take to establish yourself as an institution? Despite the fact that it only opened in 2016, Lulu La Delizia has rapidly become synonymous with high-quality Italian cuisine – and we’re not the only ones who think so. This polished and controlled meal deftly balances a high-brow, cheffy approach with classic northern Italian comfort dishes. I’d recommend the chef’s special, but everything else is delicious.

Lulu La Delizia is a modest eatery and wine bar specializing in premium fresh pasta, Friuli specialties, and the Venetian spice trail. Luigia Valvasori, our Nonna, immigrated to Australia from Casarsa della Delizia, Friuli, in the extreme north-east of Italy, in 1952, bringing with her the exquisite culinary traditions that are at the heart and soul of our creations.

We think pasta is one of the most beautiful crafts in the world, yet it gets lost in a sea of sauce all too often. Sure, a wonderful bowl of pasta is required, but the sauce is far too often the focus of attention. We’d like to refocus the attention on the pasta itself. Every bowl of pasta that we offer has been meticulously crafted and perfected over many hours. Not only do we want you to be able to taste our amazing flavors, but we also want you to feel our commitment. Pasta should have a little bite to it while yet being silky and luscious.

All of their pasta will be made using a range of techniques, equipment, recipes, and flours. This is what they do. The area of expertise.

They will be serving a variety of gorgeous Friulano-inspired ‘delights,’ delightful flavors that thrill your senses, to go with beautiful pasta choices.

What about the hand-made pasta? Garganelli, Emilia-finely-grooved Romagna’s tubes of egg pasta made with hot-smoked flour, is as excellent as ever, as are cjalsons, half-moon agnolotti made with chestnut flour and packed with cheese, herbs, and lemon zest. When you add in the cheerful, switched-on service provided by restaurant manager Caitlin Webb, you’ve got yourself a new favorite Italian restaurant on your hands.

Their wine list consists primarily of Italian and Australian wines that have been hand-picked to suit our menu.

Lulu La Delizia illustrates that a winning combination of outrageously good pasta abilities, a hot wine list, and a team that understands the meaning of the phrase “hospitality” is a winning mix.

Chef-owner Joel Valvasori has styled his restaurant to resemble nonna’s living room, resulting in one of the most appealing modern Italian restaurants on the West Coast, delivering the Italian twist on chicken feet we didn’t know we wanted.
